Lesley has always found enjoyment in being around animals, and took her first job in working with dogs in 2004 at a lovely dog daycare in Calgary. She enjoyed it so much that she wanted to take caring for dogs to the next level and learn how to make a positive impact through training them and their families.

She enrolled in an intensive 3-month long dog training program in Victoria in 2006, and took what she learned to Vancouver with her and opened up her own dog training and walking business. To keep current on dog training methods as well as further educate herself on dog behaviour, learning theory and their application to training, Lesley attended seminars by well-respected animal trainers such as Jean Donaldson, Terry Ryan, Nicole Wilde, and Jesus Rosales-Ruiz, as well as continued her education by studying books on various dog-related topics such as learning, behaviour, and nutrition.

In 2008 she enrolled in a second dog training program designed by dog training pioneer, Karen Pryor. The curriculum was tailored to animal professionals with an existing background in training. This added to the foundation Lesley had already begun in teaching dogs to live in our complex human through reinforcement-based training, as well as awarded her with the accreditation of a Certified Training Partner.

Lesley's approach to dog training begins with looking at each dog as an individual, assessing their specific needs, and using her knowledge in behavior modification to determine the best course of action for them. She believes in providing a structured environment that recognizes what a dogs' basic needs are to be a content member of your family, and in being a strong leader for our dogs without using coercion or violence.

Whether she is watching a new puppy learn the ropes of their new world, or watching an anxious dog learn to relax and enjoy life a little bit more, Lesley finds the process of guiding dogs through their learning experience to be fascinating and rewarding.
